The man, surnamed Tsai, was arrested on Friday in Tien Giang Province, 70km south of Saigon, as part of ongoing investigations into the ring which have already seen nine Vietnamese arrested, according to Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper. Tsai was identified by victims who said they had been promised arranged marriages, but instead were sold to brothels in Malaysia for US$1,800 each, the paper reported. Tsai, 45, is married to Tran Thi My Phuong, 34, a Vietnamese woman arrested on Monday along with eight other people in Saigon. Phuong is believed to have recruited women for the scam, encouraging them to seek a better life abroad.
