HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday received a delegation from Cambodia’s Ministry of Social Affairs, Labour, Vocational Training and Youth Rehabilitation, led by Minister Ith Sam Heng.

At the meeting, Dung said the Vietnamese Government and people were happy with Cambodia’s achievements in all fields, especially under the leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The Prime Minister thanked Cambodia for helping Viet Nam in its struggle for independence as well as in the nation’s more recent development.

"The Party, the State and the people of Viet Nam always want to strengthen the relationship between the two countries with the aim of development for both countries and a comfortable and prosperous life for the two peoples," said Dung.

Dung suggested the Cambodian ministry enhance exchange and co-operation with Viet Nam’s Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).

Minister Ith Sam Heng praised Viet Nam’s achievements in social affairs, which he said aimed at equality for the poor and those who had contributed to national development.

Heng said bilateral ties between the two countries were at the development stage, especially as the implementation of border demarcation had opened a new sustainable co-operation framework for the interest of both countries.

Also yesterday, the Cambodian delegation held a meeting with Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Nguyen Thi Hang.

The two ministers agreed to exchange information and experiences on developing policies for invalids, war martyrs, fighting social evils, hunger eradication and poverty reduction and other social affairs.

Minister Ith Sam Heng affirmed that his ministry would be ready to work with Viet Nam on issues related to the life of labourers.

Currently, Cambodia is actively implementing projects to set up social centres to support victims of disasters and human trafficking. The ministry is also building and expanding relations with non-governmental organisations and relevant agencies in the region, including the MoLISA. — VNS
