Hanoi- A 22-year-old Vietnamese woman who was trafficked into China as a child has been arrested on charges she herself sold girls as young as 14 over the border, police and local press said Friday. Le Thi Cuc was taken into custody Wednesday by Chinese police after a joint investigation and handed over to Vietnamese authorities, according to a Hanoi police investigator.

Police have rescued hundreds of Asian women in recent years who have been trafficked into Malaysia and forced into prostitution, the country's police chief said Thursday. Inspector-General of Police, Musa Hassan, said the women were from countries including Indonesia, China, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam, with Indonesians making up the highest numbers.

COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Ngoc Bich Nguyen's mother was lured far from Vietnam by the promise of a high-paying factory job that she hoped would allow both of her daughters to attend college.
Instead, she ended up in a Samoan sweatshop, a victim of smugglers who enslaved her and about 250 other desperate women from China and Vietnam.
