HA NOI — Over 100 Vietnamese and Chinese children voiced their concerns over cross border trafficking at a first-ever joint children’s forum between the two countries in Ha Noi yesterday.

Hanoi -- Vietnamese officials are unable to say how many women and children are trafficked from Vietnam into China each year. But they say the numbers are rising.

Home Office condemned over plan to deport asylum-seeking minors

The Home Office is drawing up plans to forcibly repatriate up to 500 children to Vietnam as part of a programme that could see thousands of minors sent back to an uncertain future in the countries where they were born.

Nine people were charged Thursday with taking part in a human-trafficking ring that smuggled scores of Asian women into the Northwest and forced them into prostitution to pay for their trips to the United States.

Mỗi năm, bản báo cáo về tệ nạn buôn người (TIP Report) khảo xát tình trạng buôn người ở trên 150 quốc gia. Mục đích của bản báo cáo này là để tăng thêm nhận thức trong công chúng về tệ nạn buôn người trên toàn cầu và khuyến khích chính phủ của các nước khác chống lại vấn nạn này. 

The annual "Trafficking in Persons" (TIP) report examines trafficking problems in 150 countries. The report is focused on raising public awareness of the global trafficking problem and encouraging governments to combat the problem.   This year's TIP Report includes more coverage of labor slavery, especially internal labor trafficking, forced labor, and involuntary servitude.  Regarding Vietnam, the TIP report states “Women from Vietnam are trafficked to Taiwan through fraudulent marriages for sexual exploitation and labor.”  It also states that “the government of Vietnam does not comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking” and that “Vietnam has not made sufficient efforts to combat trafficking.”
