US Citizen Charged with Sexual Abuse

PHNOM PENH: A Cambodian court charged an American man with human trafficking and sexually abusing two underage Vietnamese girls. Myron Maboris, 46, a US citizen of South Korean origin, was arrested Wednesday after police raided his room at a guesthouse in Phnom Penh, said Keo Thea, deputy chief of the municipal anti-trafficking police.

 

He said that police found Maboris in the room with two Vietnamese girls aged 13 and 14, who he is alleged to have had sex with. Police also arrested the 49-year-old Vietnamese mother of one of the girls and three men of unknown nationality, who brought the girls to the guesthouse and two alleged brokers. All of those arrested appeared at Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday. Debauchery is the term Cambodian authorities use for sexual abuse. A court official confirmed the charges against the suspects, but declined to give any details.
