On the 2006 Trafficking in Person's Report (TIP Report), Malaysia was placed on the Tier 2 Watch List. The Malaysian government, "does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so."

According to the TIP Report, "Malaysia is a destination, and to a lesser extent, a source and transit country for men and women trafficked for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labor." Also, "foreign traffcking victims, mostly women and girls from the People's Republic of China, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam are trafficked to Malaysia fr commercial sexual exploitation."

(HOUSTON, TEXAS) - A criminal complaint charging a Malaysian woman for her role in the human trafficking of an Indonesian woman has been unsealed, United States Attorney Don DeGabrielle and Acting Assistant Attorney General Rena J.
