COLUMBUS, OHIO - This Saturday, April
8th, 2006, the Vietnamese Student Association at the Ohio State
University will present an evening of cultural performances to the theme “The
Beauty of Vietnam” while putting an important focus on human trafficking and
modern-day human slavery of Vietnamese women and children. Proceeds from the
evening’s cultural show and after party will benefit the Vietnamese Alliance to
Combat Human Trafficking (VietACT) a grassroots non-profit organization to raise
public concern and actions against human trafficking from Vietnam.
The evening program will feature works of
performing arts by students including song, music, dance, and theater. A special
appearance by singer Huy Vũ is also scheduled in the program. A presentation
will be made to highlight the plight of Vietnamese and children trafficking from
Vietnam to such places such as Cambodia, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
